The Monserrate Palace ticket, reviewed: 4.4 from 1,428 ratings
The ticket to the place, and the operator’s own: fast-track entry to the palace and the park, plus a free audio guide through an app in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French, at about twelve euros — the same price Parques de Sintra charges at its own window. What booking it ahead adds is the fast-track line, a confirmed date and free cancellation on most listings. Its reviewers this summer agree on two things: the roofs are under restoration, and the inside and the gardens are the visit.
What the listing itself says
| Which list it is filed under | The line, exactly as the listing writes it |
|---|---|
| Included | Monserrate Palace fast track ticket and park access |
| Included | Free audio guide via the Zoomguide app (available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French) |
| Not included | Transportation to the palace |
Two lines in and one out, which is as plain as a listing gets. The audio guide comes through an app rather than a handset, so arrive with a charged phone and headphones. Transport to the palace is the line to arrange yourself: bus nº 1253 from Sintra station, the EN375 by car, or a day trip that does the driving.
What visitors found, in their own words
Seven of the ten written reviews mention the roof works, and every one still gave five stars. The pattern is the same in each: the outside is under wraps, and the rooms and the gardens are the reason they were glad they came.
The Palace of Monserrate and the gardens are magnificent. 👍 The only drawback is that the exterior of the palace is under renovation (August 2026).
Great experience! Outside had scaffolding but inside was picturesque. The garden was beautiful
The interior of the palace is impressive. Unfortunately, the exterior is currently being renovated.
The palace and the gardens are very beautiful and well maintained. However, at the moment the palace is undergoing almost complete renovation, so it is impossible to see the exterior beauty of the palace. The gardens are hilly and some are elevated. Take your time to relax (toilets, shops, and food available on site). Take an Uber if the shuttle isn't running (we had problems with this famous shuttle, and the cost of an Uber is ultimately more economical...)
Monserrate Palace is an extraordinary place, and very large (I advise you to allow 2.5/3 hours to really see everything). For your information, the façade is currently under construction.
It was clean, well maintained and not polluted by so much tourism
Cindy’s is the one to read before you book: “I loved it, but I would have liked to know that the entire exterior was under renovation, so it was impossible to see the castle's beautiful exterior.” Five stars, and a note about not having been told — so here it is, told: the roofing and pantry areas are under restoration into the first quarter of 2027, the operator says the site will remain open to the public with all necessary safety conditions ensured, and the ten rooms and the whole park are open. The notice in full.
The hill, from somebody who walked it
Laura is the reviewer who describes the ground: “The gardens are hilly and some are elevated”. The park’s electric transport is temporarily unavailable and the operator offers a paid transfer between the entrance and the palace; book it if anyone in your party would rather ride, and otherwise take Elise’s advice and allow the time. How long you need.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Monserrate Palace ticket worth buying online?
Yes: it is the operator’s own ticket at the same price as the window, with fast-track entry, a free app audio guide in four languages, and free cancellation on most listings. It covers the palace and the park on one admission.
What do reviewers say about the scaffolding?
Seven of the ten written reviews mention the roof works, and every one still gave five stars. They describe the exterior as covered and the interior and the gardens as the visit. The work runs into the first quarter of 2027 with the site open throughout.
Does the ticket include transport to the palace?
No — the listing lists transport as not included. Bus nº 1253 runs from Sintra train station and nº 435 from the Lourel car park; the palace is on the EN375. Several day trips from Lisbon do the driving.
Is the Monserrate ticket the same price online and at the gate?
Yes. The platform listing is Parques de Sintra’s own ticket sold through a second window, so the price is the gate price and booking ahead adds the fast-track line and a confirmed date.
